“Society’s Child” is the controversial song that catapulted fifteen-year-old singer-songwriter Janis Ian into the diverse 1960s music scene, standing alongside legendary artists like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, & Joan Baez. A brilliant songwriter, Ian’s work made her one of the early innovators of the singer-songwriter style and the creator of many masterpieces including “Jesse,” “Stars,” and her 1975 anthem “At Seventeen.” Her career has led her to 9 Grammy nominations, 2 Grammy wins, and a life-long hunger to write. |
