Class Description: Students learn about clay and create their own ceramic work using a variety of hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, slab, and extrusions).  All students may try the potters wheel.  Children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.  Parents are welcome to enroll and create their own ceramics with their children.

Time: Thursdays, 3:45-5:15PM (class has combined with the Tuesday Pre-Teens)

Cost:

10-Weeks: $96 tuition + $15 materials = $111

5-Weeks: $65 tuition + $15 materials = $80

March 14-April 14 and April 26-May 26

Single Class: $10

Location: Ceramics Studio (1st floor) Bullen Center, 43 South Main, Logan

Class Description: Students learn about clay and create their own ceramic work using a variety of hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, slab, and extrusions) & wheel throwing for those who wish.  Projects include creating ceramic flutes and whistles.

Time: Tuesdays, 3:45-5:15PM

Cost:

10-Weeks: $96 tuition + $15 materials = $111

5-Weeks: $65 tuition + $15 materials = $80

March 14-April 14 and April 26-May 26

Single Class: $10

Location: Ceramics Studio (1st floor) Bullen Center, 43 South Main, Logan

Class Description: Students learn clay construction techniques and choose what they most wish to create with a strong focus on wheel throwing.

Time: Mondays, 3:45-5:15PM (Classroom opens at 3:30PM)

Cost: $96 tuition + $15 materials = $111

Single Class: $10

Location: Ceramics Studio (1st floor) Bullen Center, 43 South Main, Logan

Class Description: Student’s choose what they most wish to create by hand-building or wheel-throwing. Teachers investigate and teach whatever aspects of ceramics a student requests.  Possible work include working large, creating teapots, surface decoration and altering wheel thrown forms.  All skill levels welcome! Lab times available.

Time Options:

  • Mondays, 12:00-3:00PM with Beth Calengor
  • Mondays, 5:30-8:30PM with Daniel Bialkowski
  • Wednesdays, 5:00-8:00PM with Daniel Bialkowski
  • Thursdays, 12:00-3:00PM with Beth Calengor

Cost: $146 tuition + $15 per 25lbs clay = $161

Single Class: $15

Location: Ceramics Studio (1st floor) Bullen Center, 43 South Main, Logan

Class Description: Students, ages 6-12, learn about clay and create their own ceramic work using a variety of hand-building techniques (pinch, coil, slab, and extrusions).  Each Camp has a theme.  Other ages allowed with teacher’s permission.  Camps meet 9AM-12PM Monday-Thursday.

  • Camp 1, June 6-9:  The Single Shard.  Projects will mirror 12th century Korean ceramics described in the 2002 Newbery Medal winning book The Single Shard.
  • Camp 2, June 13-16: Patterns in Clay.  Students will study patterns in clay art, both in the making and in the decorating.  Activities include mathematical patterns and clay games.
  • Camp 3, June 27-30: Favored Fantasy.  Students will use their imagination to make their favorite fantasy creations.  Topics may include castles, dragons, fairy gardens, or Dr. Who.
  • Camp 4, July 18-21: A Sense of Place.  Students will work with storyteller and naturalist Kayo Roberston with ceramic instruction by Daniel Bialkowski to map where we live using clay.

Cost: $79 tuition + $15 materials fee = $94 per camp

ALL FOUR CAMPS: $250 tuition + $30 materials fee = $280 ($96 savings)

TWO CLASSES (any week): $41 tuition + $10 materials fee = $51

Class Description: Experience the pleasure of creating pottery on the potter’s wheel!  Students, ages 9-17, learn clay construction using a variety of hand-building techniques and wheel throwing.  Students choose what they most wish to create with a strong focus on wheel throwing.

Time Choices:

  • Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:00-3:00 PM, June 7, 9, 14, 16, 28, 30, July 19, 21, 26 (glazing)
  • Mondays & Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 PM, June 6, 8, 13, 15, 27, 29, July 18, 20, 25 (glazing)

Cost:

  • 9 classes: $126 tuition + $15 materials fee = $141
  • 5 classes: $70 tuition + $15 materials fee  = $85
    • Choose any five, keeping in mind that glazing is only available July 25 or 26.
  • Single Class: $15

Minimum enrollment: 6 students.

If there are scheduling concerns, please contact Robyn Hoth and adjustments can be made.  If a student prefers to be in a class that is not listed in their age group, please contact the teacher, Beth Calengor, at 435-764-2286 for permission.Any student may enroll at any time in a single class or in an on-going class.  It is not necessary to join a class at the beginning , and joining late in the session will not make ceramics more difficult for the student.  All levels welcome.
