UNICORN CLASSES

ONLINE CLASS REGISTRATION HERE

Wouldn’t it be great if there were a place for kids to go crazy with their imaginations, making up stories, playing fun games and learning through theatrical exploration? Well there is such a place! The Creative Drama classes at Unicorn Children’s Theater encourage children to act their age. The eight-week course explores drama from a variety of disciplines. Students will develop an understanding of emotional expression while exploring the dramatic process. Come play in a no-performance pressure environment where creativity and imagination blossom.

For more information about this class and other classes offered at the Center, call the CVCA Ticket Office at 435-752-0026 Mon-Fri, 10 am-5:30 pm

Unicorn Theater Classes

People sometimes mistakenly think our classes are just for a talented few. Not so! Our program is open to any child who wants to join us. These are the starting point, the training ground for the young actors in our Unicorn Company. They are not performance classes designed for an audience. They are designed to teach children to think on their feet and to value and share their own ideas without self consciousness. They learn about the process of drama and acting and not just the production of a play. Our teachers work on understanding and processing drama rather than just memorizing a long list of lines and repeating them back for an audience to hear. This creates people who are more empathetic to the dramatic arts even if they do not go on and pursue the dramatic arts in the future. Learn how to role play, improvise, and perform short scenes which will help anyone with their public speaking skills and encourage the imagination to grow.

Pillow Theater Productions
These are productions that children can audition for and we perform a different play every month. This is a good way to ease your child into the theater experience because it is a small space rather than a huge stage on which they perform so it is not as intimidating. Auditions are open to any child and they do not need to be in the Unicorn Theater classes to be cast in the play, but the children who are students in the class could receive a slight advantage over non-students.

There are also two major productions, one in the Winter and one in the Spring, for those children that can't wait for the "Broadway" experience and are eager to perform on a big stage. Check back for more details as the audition dates get closer.
